Researchers and scientists across the world have been claiming that the novel coronavirus may have somehow “escaped” from the high-security biolab in Wuhan called the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Today, Zhiming Yuan, the vice director of the institute has denied this possibility. Zhiming told Chinese state broadcaster CGTN that “there is no way this virus came from us,” NBC News reported. “We have a strict regulatory regime and code of conduct of research, so we are confident.”
